Review Policy & Rating

Hello there! Are you an author, a publicist for one, or a fellow blogger? If yes, well, this post is for you!

I’m Sherna, a book blogger (obviously) and these are the policies I made and follow when it comes to the books on my TBR—To Be Reviewed—pile.

Genre/Age Group

What I do read/review:

Young Adult (YA)

  • Contemporary
  • Dystopian/Sci-Fi
  • High Fantasy
  • Historical Fiction
  • Paranormal
  • Suspense/Thriller
  • Urban Fantasy

New Adult (NA)

  • Contemporary

What I don’t read/review:

Young Adult

  • Contemporary that tackles physical/sexual abuse, mental illness, drugs and with characters aged 16 and below
  • Dystopian/Sci-Fi about aliens
  • Paranormal about zombies
  • Non-Fiction

New Adult

  • Contemporary about gangs/Mafia and with characters aged 30 and above
  • Dystopian/Sci-Fi
  • Erotica (BDSM)
  • High Fantasy
  • Historical Fiction
  • Paranormal
  • Suspense/Thriller
  • Urban Fantasy
  • Books with naked torso on the cover

Books published before January 2015 will also be declined for review.

Review Copy Format

I will accept physical review copies ONLY for Young Adult review requests, unless part of a blog tour in which the author gave an e-copy for reviewers.

For self-published authors, especially New Adult, I will accept e-copies in .mobi or .epub format only, or through a NetGalley widget, unless an author/publicist wants to send me a physical copy of the book to be reviewed, of course 😉

When will I post the review?

Since I’m still in college, I have a busy schedule (studies first!). I will notify the author when I started to review the book he/she gave me and post the review no later than ONE (1) WEEK after I finished reading the review copy.

This doesn’t mean that I will read a review copy sent to me right away, okay? Most of the time, I read books for pleasure and I don’t want pressure when reading. I will be upfront with the author about when I might be able to start reading his/her books.

What will the review contain?

In general, all reviews will have:

  • Book Cover
  • Book Title
  • Date of Publication
  • Genre
  • Goodreads Link
  • Synopsis
  • Review Proper
  • Rating

If the author wants, or sometimes, if I request and the author granted, there will be a giveaway, an author interview, a character interview, or an author guest post.

Do I accept blog tour invitations?

Absolutely! Blog tours—release blitz and review posts—make a blogger’s life so much easier since most of the time, the tour hosts provide a Release Blitz packet that contains every information, graphics and links needed.

How do I rate books?

Rating books is sometimes hard so I have set guidelines to remind myself how to evaluate a book.

4 Stars—Woooow. That was amazing! Why have I only read this book now? If only the author made that teeny, tiny change in that scene…

3 Stars—I liked this book! It’s just that…

2 Stars—Wow. I’m amazed by how much time I wasted reading this book, hoping it gets better because there were some parts there that had potential. Too bad.

1 Star—I wish I could unread this book.

Sooooo, there you have it. If you’re an author who wants me to try reading and reviewing your book, just shoot me an e-mail at
